Meet the team

Liz joined the LSB in 2001. She leads the rigorous compliance oversight programme, promoting best practice for customers and ensuring registered firms adhere to the Standards and Codes they are signed up to.

Liz joined the LSB at a time when the organisation was known as the Banking Code Standards Board (BCSB). She has therefore seen the transition from the Lending Code to the Standards of Lending Practice and the adoption of other industry Standards and Codes. This, combined with her background in compliance, mortgage adviser roles and financial planning, have equipped her with many years’ experience promoting best practices in financial services.

Shada joined the LSB in May 2012. Initially working as a Compliance Manager before moving into a Senior Compliance Manager role, Shada is responsible for monitoring registered firms’ compliance with the Standards of Lending Practice for personal and business customers through ongoing relationship management and review activity. 

Prior to joining the LSB, Shada worked in other senior compliance roles providing support to the operational compliance needs of the business.

Paul joined the LSB in May 2020. He is responsible for monitoring registered firms’ compliance with the CRM Code, the Access to Banking Standard and the Credit Card Market Study remedies, through ongoing relationship management and review activity.

Paul has over 25 years’ experience working in financial services across a range of sectors including consumer credit lending, retail banking, building societies, collections and arrears management, regulated mortgage conduct of business, and insurance. To support his experience, Paul holds the International Compliance Association (ICA) UK Diploma in Compliance and is also a certified Mental Health First Aider, acquired through Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England.

Paul joined the LSB in November 2019. He is responsible for monitoring registered firms’ compliance with the LSB’s Standards and Codes, and managing day-to-day relationships with firms, providing support and guidance where needed to ensure they adhere to the Standards and deliver the best outcomes for their customers.

Paul has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry, 14 of which were within compliance roles. His early career included branch management within the building society sector and after a period as a mortgage intermediary, he subsequently moved into compliance roles within building societies and leading high street banks.

Kajal joined the LSB in March 2020. She is responsible for monitoring registered firms’ compliance with the LSB’s Standards and Codes, and managing day-to-day relationships with firms, providing support and guidance where needed to ensure they adhere to the Standards and deliver the best outcomes for their customers.

Prior to joining LSB, Kajal held senior compliance consultancy roles in several different sectors, including consumer credit, banking and insurance, providing advice and guidance to firms on regulatory matters. During this time, Kajal was involved in process implementation, policy development, compliance monitoring and training on matters including quality assurance, risk, fraud, treating customers fairly, vulnerable customers and financial difficulty.

Bernard joined the LSB in March 2020. He is responsible for monitoring registered firms’ compliance with the LSB’s Standards and Codes, and managing day-to-day relationships with firms, providing support and guidance where needed to ensure they adhere to the Standards and deliver the best outcomes for their customers.

Prior to joining the LSB, Bernard has worked as a Senior Associate for the Regulator and in other regulatory supervisor roles in the financial services sector. He has managed projects looking at and supervising a number of different aspects of consumer credit, including debt purchase companies, credit reference agencies and guarantor lenders.

Mark joined the LSB in March 2020. He is responsible for monitoring registered firms’ compliance with the LSB’s Standards and Codes, and managing day-to-day relationships with firms, providing support and guidance where needed to ensure they adhere to the Standards and deliver the best outcomes for their customers.

Mark has over 7 years of experience working within debt recovery. He has held various regulatory compliance, quality assurance and audit-based roles, focusing on monitoring internal operational departments, conducting thematic reviews and ensuring that any new changes to regulation were implemented within organisations’ core policies and procedures.

Paul joined the LSB in October 2021. He is responsible for monitoring registered firms’ compliance with the LSB’s Standards and Codes, and managing day-to-day relationships with firms, providing support and guidance where needed to ensure they adhere to the Standards and deliver the best outcomes for their customers.

Prior to joining the LSB, Paul gained 10 years’ experience working in various compliance roles for a non-bank Mortgage Lender and Building Society. In that time Paul has advised on regulatory projects, including major loan asset migrations and new business propositions, supported regulatory reporting, completed compliance monitoring reviews and provided routine compliance support to assist the delivery of compliant and fair outcomes for customers. Whilst working in the mortgage sector Paul completed the Level 4 Diploma in Mortgage Advice and Practice from the London Institute of Banking and Finance.  

Joanne joined the LSB in August 2022. She is responsible for monitoring registered firms’ compliance with the LSB’s Standards and Codes, and managing day-to-day relationships with firms, providing support and guidance where needed to ensure they adhere to the Standards and deliver the best outcomes for their customers.

Joanne has over 24 years’ experience within the financial services industry, most of which is within compliance, risk and governance roles in building societies, accountancy firms and pensions administration services. During this time, Joanne has designed and implemented risk-based compliance assurance and governance frameworks, provided advice and guidance to firms on regulatory matters, and held the role of Data Protection Officer.
