Sir Robin Mountfield


It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Sir Robin Mountfield on 9 November 2011. Robin joined our Board in January 2007 and has made a very significant contribution to the work of the BCSB and the LSB.


Yorkshire Building Society


Following its merger with the Norwich & Peterborough Building Society, the Yorkshire Building Society has become a subscriber to the Lending Code.

A new approach to financial regulation

A new edition of the Code will be introduced at the end of March.


The LSB is looking to recruit a new Compliance Director.


The Compliance Director will lead a team responsible for monitoring all aspects of compliance with the Lending Code by subscribing firms and for the provision of advice and guidance to these firms.


The role involves the provision of clear and detailed reports to the LSB Executive and Board, to subscribing firms and (where appropriate) in preparation for possible enforcement actions. As part of the LSB Executive team, there will be a requirement to represent the LSB by speaking at conferences and seminars and writing articles for publication, including content for the LSB Annual Report, Bulletins and website.

Lending Code


The Lending Code has been updated to reflect:

(i) New commitments in respect of lending to micro-enterprises which came into effect on 1 December 2010

(ii) New rules in respect of credit cards that were introduced on 1 January 2011
